This page detail the steps you have to follow to succeed the alya tutorial. The objective is to have your gitlab information in the alya-developers file. Succeeding this test is required to assist in the git session we will organize next week.
Configure your ssh key
If you don't have one, generate an ssh key on your machine (or on the login node mn0.bsc.es, which is connected to internet). Add the public ssh key to your gitlab account.
Ask for developer status
If you are not among the developers, ask for an access to the alya group https://gitlab.bsc.es/alya
Clone the alya-tutorial
You have to find the command to clone the repository alya-tutorial on your machine or on the login node mn0.bsc.es of marenostrum. Use the ssh protocol.
Create an issue
We are simulating that you are contributing to alya, by adding a new feature. Create a new issue, taking as an example the issue #1 (closed). Copy the content (all the tasks).
Follow the tasks described in the issue. Once you have done a task, check the corresponding box. You will have to perform various operations (create a branch, modify a file, commit, push, perform a merge request).
Perform a merge request
Once your contribution on your branch is done, ask for a merge request. Don't forget to assign @ddosimon so he will be noticed. If your contribution is okay, your merge request will be accepted, which means that you have succeeded!
